Stepping In

This intervention is in contrast with our principle of acknowledged equality, but if we want to respect our principle of acknowledged differences we need to help certain students to start in a warmer climate and give them a head start before of the start of the academic calendar. Therefore we give an introduction course for students who:

  • have another ethnic background and who are raised in another language other than Dutch
  • come from the vocational secondary education

Before the start of the academic calendar

How long?
Two days

Because the study success of these target groups has been below average

Introduction course:

  1. First contact with the school and the student counselors.
  2. Give them a head start.
  3. Develop awareness that:
    • efficient study skills are needed
    • possible insufficient language skills should be adjusted as soon as possible
